Award Wins: The Long Call and The Tradition

 

The Long Call won the Agatha award for best contemporary mystery Sunday night. It’s voted on by readers of traditional crime fiction who attend the Malice Domestic convention in the US every year. This year, obviously, it was done digitally. She was up against some pretty impressive competition, including Louise Penny! A very lovely win for our darling author, Ann Cleeves.

And a Copper Canyon poet has won the Pulitzer! The winner was announced May 4.! It was also a National Book Award finalist.Brown’s accomplishment confirms what The New York Times declared in their review of The Tradition: “Even in their most searing moments, these poems are resilient out of necessity, faithful to their account of survival, when survival is the hardest task of all.”
