Claws of the Panda: Beijing’s Campaign of Influence and Intimidation in Canada, by Jonathan Manthorpe (Victoria), has been named a finalist for the Shaughnessy Cohen Prize for Political Writing. This is the book’s second nomination this year, having been named a finalist earlier for the Hubert Evans Non-Fiction Prize of the BC and Yukon Book Prizes.
Claws of the Panda was a Globe and Mail Top 100 Book of 2019 and was on the Canadian-authored non-fiction bestseller lists of the nation in February and March of that year. It is now going into its fourth printing.
Manthorpe’s subsequent new non-fiction work, Restoring Democracy in an Age of Populists and Pestilence, publishes August 22.
